Yesterday was the Holiday of WormFestivus, a weekly celebration of gunky schmutz. It happens every Friday in my world. It’s time to feed the worms.
These are the tools of the trade…
And the start of the celebration…
No sugarplums, just cornmeal, banana meal (not sure that’s a real thing) and egg meal (nor that) dancing in the little worm brains…
All served up on a festive bed of dryer lint…
” All served up on a festive bed of dryer lint”. Ha! Wasn’t expecting that. Very nice.

Yes Julie, I make it easier for them so they can churn out more good stuff for me. We’re all very considerate here. The lint is just another easy and free carbon source, and helps keep the moisture from the decomposing produce under control. I hope you can manage to get one together for yourself!

I have the bath, I just have to work out the internals. Would you have any great ideas Dan? Should I line it and put in some sort of rack?

That sounds great. Yep, I think there needs to be some way to keep the bedding out of the soggy moisture that always develops underneath. My little bin has holes in the bottom and it’s nested inside another identical bin to catch the leachate (the yuck that dribbles out of the bedding). And then you’d want a way to be able to drain that leachate when you need to.

You have a future as a waiter in any one of the finest worm restaurants of the world Dan. My own version of lint is my vacuum cleaner bag. The worms seem to appreciate it. π
